The LM317, a very convenient monolithic regulator, has been around for many decades and is used in a multitude of applications in millions of items of equipment.
Naim Audio are users of this device in bulk quantities and as such, the little LM317 does a fine job of regulating the DC lines in virtually all the products produced by them.
Beginning with the principle that 'simple is best' the Voltage Locked TPR Tracking Pre-regulator stands out as neat an implementation of the LM317 as there has ever been and with the following features:
