NCC200 power amplifier module
NCC200 Power Amplifier Module - The original 1970s RCA circuit .."well sorted".
First featured in a 1970s RCA designers handbook: "Solid-State Power Circuits", this amplifier has formed the basis for Naim's NAP series for many years. For some reason, the full potential and qualities of this deceptively simple circuit have never quite been realised - until now that is………….
The good news is that over many years of experimenting and choosing components, Les has gained an in depth knowledge and understanding of the RCA amplifier and he has been able to take the performance of this classic, AB design into quite another league.
"I must say the amplifier modules are of an extreme high quality. They seem to have a bottomless grip in the bass paired with an outstanding resolution and very analogue sounding mids and highs. They also seem to time the music in a unique manner making listening a very fulfilling experience" - Michael Borresen. Designer - Eben Loudspeakers Denmark
The NCC200s may be used in upgrading existing Naim amplifiers or building from scratch. Build your own astonishing stereo or mono amps at a fraction of the cost of buying new.
" I am delighted with the amp, the music sounds so fresh and alive, it makes the 250 I have borrowed sound positively woolly in comparison" - DE Isle of Skye
Using sophisticated techniques such as computer optimised signal paths and constructed from the highest specification components (eg. 1 Watt metal film resistors throughout plus Welwyn RC55 resistors in the signal path) with no ferrous materials.
The NCC200 modules are free of the constraints found in the Naim amplifiers: The NCC200 has local feedback networks added in the right places plus a carefully designed and voiced damped output inductor has been introduced which maintains amplifier stability under all conditions.
The network is totally 'non-invasive' and does not compromise the rhythmic qualities of the amplifier in any way. The NCC200 is supremely musical and drives ANY length of cable, virtually ANY loudspeaker system** with no current limiting and with much less phase shift - yet is almost impossible to provoke into instability.
Sensible limits apply of course; with suitable heatsinking the NCC200 will deliver 90 Watts into 8 Ohms (almost double into 4 Ohms) with a distortion (mainly 2nd Harmonic) figure better than -79dB ..(10W @ 1KHz), 3rd harmonic is better than -94dB and the power bandwidth 20Hz - 20KHz.
Sonically, bass performance is tuneful and deep - treble is free of the hardness present in standard amplifiers. Timing and rhythm performance is 'spot on' with a sense of scale reserved for only the highest end amplifiers. Residual noise levels are an order of magnitude lower meaning better fine detail retrieval with almost none of that distracting hiss from your speakers.
Setup simply requires a digital multimeter and we even provide that FREE of CHARGE with each pair of ready built and tested modules.
Using ready built modules, YOU can construct a world class 2 channel power amp to be proud of in an evening for a surprisingly modest amount with no solder joints..!!
"I have to report that your amplifiers have just made redundant, several thousand pounds worth of highly regarded 'high end' models. My wife and I are astonished and delighted at the musical nature of your amplifiers and, having in the past spent many, many hours hours listening to what now amounts to half a performance, we're at last enjoying our music to the full. Our grateful thanks to you and your team" - BW Nottingham
Have you ever considered building your own amplifier? You'd be suprised just how easy it is - you could be up and running in one afternoon or evening..!!

Our Policy on the use of Ferrous Materials:
In the light of much documented evidence that steel components may have adverse effects on sound quality and, following our own investigation paths, common sense dictates we avoid the use of ferrous materials in our products wherever possible.
