breathe LIFE into your music
Let us help you convert some pedestrian audio equipment into sonic works of art at a small fraction of the cost of buying new.
This service is for the Naim Audio NAP 135 and Naim NAP 250 power amplifiers, the Naim Hicap and the Naim SNAPS power supplies.
We do welcome any enquiry concerning the servicing, or upgrade, of other Naim preamps, power amplifiers and power supplies, but please note that for the moment we do NOT offer any service or spare parts for the Naim NAIT integrated amplifiers.
We take the standard NAP 250 and NAP 135 service just a little further, the on board capacitors as well as the main capacitors are replaced by top of the market units and certain resistors, known to degrade slightly over time, are also renewed.
Selected semiconductors are renewed by low noise components to offset the effects of aging and therefore loss of performance. The wiring circuitry is amended for better current flow. All trips are reset to makers standards.
Final bench testing is carried out using a Hewlett Packard HP3582A spectrum analyser and an HP339A / Neutrik TP401 distortion analyser.
Naim NAP 135: £220
Naim NAP 250: £297
Full 12 month parts and labour warranty on the complete amplifier
As in Option 1, but with the additional, following, refinements:
The Naim amplifier circuits are rebuilt using high definition, true audiophile components. Any on-board current limiting components are removed for a cleaner and tighter sound. All internal fixings are renewed by non-ferrous components and main output transistors are reseated using advanced pads. Signal path wiring is upgraded to PTFE insulated co-axial cable. Rectification is now by Schottky diodes and some crucial wiring is changed for high definition cables. Settings are reset to the makers specifications and the stringent Hewlett Packard tests above are applied.
Naim NAP 135: £330
Naim NAP 250: £380
This service attracts a liberal four year parts and labour warranty on the entire amplifier
"I had my 135s Avondaled to stage 3. The sound is in the NAP300 arena." Source - Pink Fish Media, August 2009
Having proved to be universally popular over the last five years, the NCC200 modules may be transplanted into your Naim 135 or NAP 250. Using the components and techniques in option 2, installing the NCC200 modules add the final icing to an already superb cake.
Capable of using all the capabilities of the regulated power supply, the NCC200s perform in a liquid, effortless manner whatever the musical programme is, be it rock, classical or intimately recorded solo performers.
During the work, the amplifiers are dismantled and every part is critically inspected - any doubt and it is renewed.
Particular attention is paid to the regulator assemblies which are thoroughly rebuilt using some very innovative techniques and components. The thermal trip system as fitted from new, is revised so as to no longer be a restrictive element in the mains supply but now operates in a totally transparent mode.
The main capacitors are replaced by one of the highly regarded CAP6 modules with their Schottky diode rectifiers and multi-stage decoupled capacitor banks.
Silence is now the name of he game and owners are delighted to find that the characteristic Naim background 'hiss' has all but disappeared.
These refinements add the final touch to the performance of these superb amplifiers - speed, agility, solidity - the list of plaudits goes on and on.
The Stage 3 NCC200 conversion has been equated by the lucky owners who have it, as being akin to the much more expensive Naim Audio NAP 300 so we're delighted to note that this complete revamp of the Naim flagship amplifiers give so much pleasure.
I just hooked up the modded 135 and the unmodded one, just for a bit of A-B comparative fun. Prior to the repairs and upgrades, it sounded similar, albeit distorted, compared to its twin. Now I’m speechless! The old 135 sounds like someone draped a blanket over the speaker. The NCC200 sounds better in every possible way: more grip, resolution, control, clarity, weight, depth, sparkle, speed. To say I’m stunned would be an understatement." - Permission to quote kindly given by Mike Hanson
